The grass season may be short, but it boasts one of the most magnificent tournaments on the annual calendar, Wimbledon. The first week of preparations has piqued our curiosity, thanks to Tallon Griekspoor's triumph on the grass in Rosmalen. Several tournaments will still take place before the action begins on the courts of The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
The 2022 edition of the tournament was a special edition. As Russian tennis players were not allowed to participate in the third Grand Slam tournament of the year, the organization decided not to award ranking points. Dutch tennis player Tim van Rijthoven reached the fourth round, but his ranking unfortunately remained unaffected by that result.
From Monday, July 3rd, to Sunday, July 16th, the battle for the coveted Wimbledon title will unfold in London. Novak Djokovic is the defending champion. The Serbian player won the tournament for the fourth time in 2022 and is currently the overwhelming favorite at all bookmakers.
The preparation tournaments for Wimbledon are still in full swing, and in the coming weeks, they will give us a better idea of who the contenders will be on the sacred grass. Obviously, Djokovic's name is at the top of all favorites' lists. After his victory at Roland Garros, the Serbian is quietly preparing to secure his fifth Wimbledon title.
